Photographer #1: Mary Ellen Matthews

Known far and wide for her portrait work on Saturday Night Live, Mary Ellen Matthews was my first choice for this blog because though I became aware of her name only recently, I've known of her work for years. Before a sketch starts and a photo appears, it is hers. What I love so much about her work is the personality she manages to capture in each shot. With use of varying props, backgrounds, and costumes, she captures the essence of her subjects and makes them into really entertaining photographs. The next time you're watching SNL and you see a celebrity mid commercial, you can know its one of her's.
